I recently had the opportunity to visit the interactive learning and play program, GymRompers. GymRompers is a stimulating parent-child program that teaches children through movement and rhythm. I initially heard about GymRompers through the locals here in Mandeville stating that, "This was the place to have play dates with a clear purpose". These classes are best suited for children ranging from three months to 4 years old.
I attended a Tuesday 9:30am session at the gym where the classes are held. Shannon Early, the program's instructor, met me as soon as I walked up the stairs. I was the first attendee to this particular session so I was able to walk around and get an overview of the space provided for the classes. The floor plan is in two separate rooms. The first room is where everyone gets ready for the classes(taking off the shoes and greetings). This first room also has a few slides and climbers for the little ones. The bigger room is where the sessions are conducted.
As soon as everyone who was partaking in this class had arrived we immediately began the class. Parents AND children all sit down in a circle and sing a song to learn the names of the tots. My son first sat timidly as he had never been in that kind of session before. After that the children engaged other activities like learning to share toys, clean up games, and the Audobon Zoo Animal song. By this time my son was interacting and taking a part in the classes. I could tell he was have fun but also being stumilated! Some of the best parts of the class are the parachute activity(THE KIDS ALL LOVED THIS), the jumping sessions while looking the mirror, and the attention they receive from instructor Shannon.
I left this class thinking, "WOW! I am signing my son up for the summer session! When can I sign up?" If you have not been a part of GymRompers not only are YOU missing out but so is YOUR child. This place is perfect for those seeking interaction and learning with your young one at an extremely affordable price.
